A Call to Action

By Allen White
Water of Life, a missions organization based in South Carolina, has helped to secure the release of 152 child slaves in India with another 150 soon to be released. These  children were sold by their parents as payment for financial debts. They work long hours in a rock quarry and sleep outdoors. They are offered only one meal per day.
With the cooperation of the Indian government, 300 of these children were released and placed in homes and churches throughout the Kakinada region. They have shelter. Now they need food. This is how you can help. For $1 per day, you can feed one of these former slaves. For $300 per day, you can give all of these slave children three meals today.
Water of Life and others are working to secure the release of an additional 3,000 child slaves in this region. The Indian government must know that these children will be sheltered and provided for in order to cooperate. The care of the initial 300 children will determine the fate of the rest. The boys will continue to do hard slave labor. When the girls come of age, they will become sex workers. Lakshmi (pictured here) was bought out of sex slavery by Water of Life and its supporters. You can help.
